Re: whats your pick for this, sunday |
especially with the audience reacting well to the incredible sound
So I'd like to pick your brain and ask your opinion of the 1974 sound. I have become sort of obsessed with 1974 - and part of my experience is your above sentence. I remember Garcia and Lesh using the capabilities of the wall to totally fuck with our minds. The good auds from the summer tour bring that back to me. Was it really as good as I remember?

Incredibly - or not, I never saw Pigpen perform. I just missed him by my first show. I never saw Mickey perform either. He wasn't around in 1973. And, I never saw the boys at a smaller venue - say, 5000 or less in size. What actually happened was that I hit the 15-show run in the northeast in 1973. If you count 2 days for the soundcheck show + the summer jam show, that's just under 1.5 million total in attendance at the 6 outdoor shows during a 7-week period as the proto-type
WOS developed: RFK Stadium, Watkins Glen, and Roosevelt Stadium.
